Analysis Analysis of Metaphors and Personifications in Perahu Poem by Hamzah Fansuri

Abstract

The object of this research is a poem by Hamzah Fansuri. Hamzah Fansuri is a Sufism scholar who popularized poetry as a medium of da'wah. One of his poems that is famous and used as a medium of propaganda is the Perahu poem. This poem is then used as the object of research. The method used in this study is a qualitative method, because the results of this study are descriptive words. The approach used is a stylistic analysis that focuses on the style of figurative language. The figurative language style that will be studied in this research is the metaphorical figure of speech and personification in Hamzah Fansuri's Perahu poem. This study aims to describe the figurative language style of metaphor and personification contained in the poem "Perahu" by Hamzah Fansuri. Based on the research on the analysis of metaphorical figure of speech and personification of figurehead in Hamzah Fansuri's Perahu poem, it was found that the use of figurative language style and the choice of diction used contained figurative words that had the meaning of advice and da'wah. In this verse of Perahu by Hamzah Fansuri, metaphorical figure of speech is found in 11 stanzas and personification figure of speech in 7 stanzas.
