A review of the psychology of literature of sigmund Freud
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Conflict is a problem experienced by the character, while the mind can be said as a feeling that exists within a person. Inner conflict here is defined as a problem related to emotional feelings within a person. As I discussed in this study, the inner conflict of the central character or main character in the novel entitled Assalamu'alaikum Beijing by Asma Nadia. Asma Nadia or Asmarani Rosalba is an Indonesian novelist and short story writer. I discuss this study through descriptive qualitative research methods and in this study I use the psychological theory of Sigmund Freud's literature by analyzing the elements of inner conflict in the main character and we can see that there are three inner or psychological conflicts in humans, namely: id, ego and super ego. The theory of literary psychology is a theory that views literary works as a psychological activity. From this research, my findings about the inner conflict of a main character Asma in the novel "Assalamu'alaikum Beijing" is that the character of Asma has three psychology in humans, namely the id is the natural impulse of the human soul to perform an action according to his own will and desires, the ego is a balance between the demands of self-control and the superego is the power to control oneself and to severely limit the uncontrollable and unrestricted desires of the id. From this research, it can be concluded that Asma has an id conflict, namely Asma decides to go to Beijing, the ego conflict experienced by Asma's character is when Asma feels hesitant to continue her relationship with Zhongwen due to the illness suffered by Asma. And the super ego conflict experienced by Asma was when Asma was sick and then she went back to Indonesia leaving Zhongwen.
