Abstract

This study aimed to design an air pollution monitoring system in a location based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology using the Wemos D1 Wifi type ESP8266 Microcontroller as a platform for data processing and data communication. The research method uses is a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection technique is by conducting observations, discussions, and literature studies related to the problem. Meanwhile, the system development process uses the stages of the waterfall model. The formulation of the problem in the research is how to develop a system that can inform about ISPU standard air quality. For this reason, a system design is needed where the MQ2 sensor functions as a detection of CO (Carbon Monoxide) elements in the free air with Internet of Things (IoT) technology, so that it is able to perform monitoring functions in real time as information to the public about air quality in their environment.
